Laval University student Jonathan Jalbert has been awarded the Réal-Décoste scholarship – funded by the Ouranos Consortium – for his PhD research project entitled ”Développement d’une méthodologie d’analyse fréquentielle non stationnaire et régionale pour les événements de précipitations intenses générés par le Modèle Régional Canadian du Climat.”The Réal-Décoste scholarship is a merit scholarship for PhD students that awards $ 20,000 per year for a maximum of three years. The Réal-Décoste merit scholarship aims to foster student interest in climate change, and provides financial support for exceptional candidates to enter or continue with a PhD programme. The scholarship program honours the vision of the first Executive Director of Ouranos, Réal-Décoste, who died in July 2004. Mr. Décoste created the climate change consortium with the goal of promoting partnerships and multidisciplinarity. The next competition will be announced at the end of summer, 2011. Check the Ouranos website for details.
