Structure

Organigramme

Ouranos is incorporated as a non-profit organization with fourteen regular members and four affiliated members.

Financial management is handled by senior management and overseen by a firm of auditors, reporting to the Board of Directors.

To carry out its mission, Ouranos is structured around two themes:

Climate sciences

subdivided into three groups of experts:  climate simulations, climate scenarios and hydroclimatic analyses, and

Impacts and Adaptation

broken down into several thematic programs revolving around a single “Impacts and Adaptation” group.

Logistics is handled by an administrative group and a computer services group.

The Scientific program is overseen by senior management, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. An external scientific council, consisting of independent researchers, advises the Executive Director on the scientific aspects of the program.

Resources

  • Network of some 250 scientists and professionals
  • Total estimated resources of $12 M/year
  • Three CRAY-SX-6 supercomputers, with available calculation capacity of over 0.2 TFLOP and 725 terabytes of memory.
