Consortium on Regional Climatology and Adaptation to Climate Change
Climate SciencesClimate Scenarios
Program Co-ordinator: Diane Chaumont
Mandate
Develop hydroclimatic scenarios for users and researchers in various regions and fields of application, depending on Ouranos Impacts & Adaptation project needs and other projects on request.
Main objectives
- Construct hydroclimatic scenarios meeting the needs of climate change impact studies.
- Help assess construction methods for hydroclimatic scenarios.
- Link uncertainties from climate projections and Impacts & Adaptation applications.
- Manage data effectively.
- Promote and consolidate the expertise of the Climate Scenarios group and take part in research and development in this field.
Secondary objectives
- Update Ouranos databases (internal and external sources).
- Develop analysis tools for climate projections (statistics, indicators, cartography).
- Take part in estimating bias in simulated data and suggest adjustment methods adapted to the context of climate change.
- Jointly with Impacts and Adaptation users, assess the sensitivity of analysis tools to natural climate variability.
- Provide technical support for users in interpreting and disseminating results.
- Follow the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in selecting methods and tools and greenhouse gas development scenarios.
