Ouranos

Consortium on Regional Climatology and Adaptation to Climate Change

Climate Sciences

Activities related to climate sciences are broken down into three groups:
Climate Simulations, Climate Scenarios and Hydroclimatic Analyses

Mandate

Provide the information and scientific support required for Impacts and Adaptation projects.

Main objectives

  • Develop knowledge.
  • Provide the simulation data and climate scenarios required for impact and adaptation (I&A) studies.
  • Process and validate this information through relevant and adequate hydroclimatic analyses.

Secondary objectives

  • Produce the regional climate projections required for Ouranos programs.
  • Develop expertise in high-resolution simulation (10 km).
  • Verify model output and validate it against observations.
  • Analyze climate variability, trends and extremes.
  • Assess, modify or develop methods of building climate and hydrological scenarios adapted to the needs of I&A projects.
  • Build climate and hydrological scenarios required for I&A projects.
  • Evaluate the uncertainty associated with hydroclimatic projections and integrate them into scenarios.
  • Provide climate science expertise and support for I&A projects.
