Louis Lefaivre started his career as an operational forecaster in 1975 with the Meteorological Service of Canada. After his MSc studies at McGill University, he joined the Climate Modelling group in 1980. From 1982 to 1991, he returned to operations: first in Germany, then in the Quebec Region and finally, in 1987, at the Canadian Meteorological Centre (CMC). He began working as a development meteorologist in 1991 and was involved in the operational set-up of the first Canadian Ensemble Prediction System. From 1996 to 2007, he held several management positions within the CMC Development group. Since June 2007, he has been the Environment Canada Co-ordinator at Ouranos and is in charge of the Climate Analysis group.
