René Roy holds a doctorate in water sciences from the Institut National de la recherche scientifique (INRS-ETE). He has been at Hydro-Québec since 1987, where he is a presently a researcher at the Institut de recherche de l’électricité du Québec (IREQ). He began his career as a hydrometeorologist in charge of hydrometeorological data validation and hydrological forecasting, and afterward managed various research projects related to the acquisition and validation of hydrometeorological data and the improvement of runoff forecasts, since this expertise was valuable for international activities. Since 2001, Mr. Roy has been the Climate Change Project Director for Hydro-Québec and Co-ordinator of the Hydroclimatic Analyses program within the Ouranos consortium. He maintains close collaborative scientific research links with academic communities, thanks to his position of Adjunct Professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal and at INRS-ETE.
