Consortium on Regional Climatology and Adaptation to Climate Change
Impacts & adaptationSocial and Environmental Impacts
Program Co-ordinator: Alain Bourque
Context
Southern Quebec:
- Home to over 90% of Quebec residents, occupying only 10% of the province
- Is located on the St. Lawrence Plain and the Appalachians
- Different activities, directly or indirectly affected by climate change:
- Health
- Transportation, infrastructures and safety
- Agriculture
- Economy and society
- Natural ecosystems and biodiversity
The study of potential climate change impacts AND the search for adequate adaptation measures are essential to effectively mitigate their effects, but also to benefit from potential opportunities.
Objective
- Clearly respond to the needs of users faced with climate change impacts in the different sectors that characterize the region and define effective adaptation strategies.
