Next October 2nd through 6th in Montréal, Ouranos and the Government of Canada will be hosting the 7th edition of Adaptation Futures, the benchmark event for climate change adaptation on the international stage. With the opening of registrations around the corner, here are the top three reasons why you don’t want to miss this event, regardless of whether you attend in person or online: 

1. A program that combines research and hands-on 

Research in the field of climate change adaptation is constantly evolving. Participating in Adaptation Futures means staying on top of the latest scientific trends and discoveries, in addition to learning about adaptation issues and in-the-field solutions. For this year’s edition, the AF2023 organizing committee is proud to announce:

  • Over 180 sessions covering 8 diverse themes relating to equity and social justice, Indigenous perspectives and local knowledge, governance and finance.

  • Scientific  lunch-and-learns, parallel events, booths and posters 

  • An open discussion space to facilitate the sharing of ideas

  • Technical visits to draw inspiration from local ways of doing things… all while enjoying the blazing foliage of the Northland!

Taking part in a global event of such scale is your chance to experience enriching encounters and forge ties with over 1,500 professionals that share your interests. Adaptation Futures can be summed up as follows: 

  • Some 1,000 participants from around the globe, including researchers, decision-makers, practitioners and industry representatives
