Issues related to floodplain mapping and its regulatory framework in the context of climate change
This project aims to assess the main issues related to floodplain mapping as well as to support the application of knowledge, facilitate widespread understanding and use of the mapping carried out by INFO-Crue.

Context
Following the 2017 floods, the Quebec government initiated an examination of the management of flood risks in a context of climate change. In this context, the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MELCC) established the INFO-Crue project to map flood hazards for southern Quebec.
As part of Ouranos’ support to INFO-Crue, the MELCC hydrologic expertise unit commissioned Ouranos to help maximize the benefits of mapping and encourage the application of knowledge. This project is part of the knowledge application component.

This project is part of the INFO-Crue initiative set up by the MELCCFP.
Methodology

Conduct a literature review based on the Google Scholar and Google search engines, complemented by use of the Ouranos publication archives and references from invited experts or participants

Favour an iterative multi-level collaboration approach with experts, ministries and agencies based on two participating bodies: the interministerial working group on floods and an information forum allowing workshops to be held with invited experts
