Objectives

Provide decision makers in the forestry sector with the knowledge and tools necessary to incorporate adaptation to climate change in forest management in Québec and optimize its response.

  • Support research projects that develop climate indices, which quantify the impacts of climate change on forests, and that identify vulnerabilities and identify and evaluate adaptation options
  • Integrate scientific knowledge and disseminate to the forestry sector
  • Participate in the transfer of knowledge to decision-makers
  • Strengthen and expand the network of researchers in the field of climate change and forestry across Quebec

Daniel Houle

Daniel Houle holds a Doctorate from INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique). A forestry researcher with Quebec’s ministry of natural resources, his work focuses on the fertility of forest soils and tree growth in relation to air pollution and climate change. At Ouranos since 2003, he coordinates the Forest Resources program within the Vulnerabilities, Impacts and Adaptation Group.
