Charles holds a bachelor's degree in physics and a master's degree in geography from the University of Montreal, where he conducted research on the importance of soil carbon in the global carbon balance. His work contributed to improving the representation of soil carbon in one of Environment and Climate Change Canada's surface schemes.

At Ouranos since 2023, he joined the Climate Simulations and Analyses group, where he works on improving the representation of interactions between the surface and the atmosphere in the regional climate model.
