Marc-Olivier Gasser is an agronomist by training and completed his graduate studies up to the doctoral level in soils at Laval University. Over the past 20 years, he has developed solid expertise in several areas of soil science, including the use of farm fertilizers and soil and water quality conservation in agricultural settings. He and his team are working on developing indicators and monitoring soil health across Quebec, soil degradation and organic matter loss phenomena, conservation practices and their effects on soil health and conservation. His team is also developing the ecosystem benefits of alternative crops dedicated to industrial biomass production from a sustainable development perspective.
