Context

One of the challenges in addressing climate change in large organizations is integrating it into existing processes and analysis methods. The report entitled Intégrer l’adaptation aux changements climatiques dans des outils d’aide à la décision organisationnels (integrating climate change adaptation into organizational decision-making supports)  summarizes the best practices for integrating climate change adaptation into seven decision-making supports used in organizations that provide essential services (electricity, telecommunications, etc.) and own major infrastructure networks, in particular.

The seven documented decision-making supports are:

  • A market analysis

  • An assessment of physical risks

  • Calculation of climate value-at-risk

  • A cost-benefit analysis

  • Deterioration curves

  • A climate reserve

  • A service reliability assessment

The report is accompanied by a resource in the form of an Excel file with detailed information on the best practices identified for each of the decision-making tools. This resource also allows the user to analyze the differences between the organization’s current practices and the practices to be implemented to support the integration of climate change adaptation.

Benefits for adaptation

Benefits for adaptation

The report and the accompanying Excel file enable organizations to integrate climate change adaptation into commonly used decision-making supports. The practices identified facilitate the identification of the main climate risks and their consequences on the organization’s activities, as well as the adaptation measures to be implemented. This improves the resilience of organizations.
