Integrating climate change adaptation into decision support tools

November 12, 2025 à 10 a.m.
Summary of the presentation

One of the challenges in addressing climate change in large organizations is integrating it into existing processes and analysis methods. This webinar provides a summary of best practices for integrating climate change adaptation into seven decision support tools:

  • A market analysis

  • An assessment of physical risks

  • Calculation of climate value-at-risk

  • A cost-benefit analysis

  • Infrastructure degradation curves

  • A climate reserve

  • A service reliability assessment

The best practices identified are particularly relevant for organizations offering essential services or managing infrastructure that is sensitive to climate hazards, such as telecommunications and electricity providers, as well as ministries and crown corporations.

Learning objectives:

  • Structure your thinking on the integration of climate change adaptation into the management processes of an organization

  • Make use of best practices to better understand how decision support tools can include elements related to climate change adaptation

  • Identify potential gaps between your current organizational practices and those that should be implemented
